A Faithful Admonition to the Professor's of God's Truth
John Knox's "Faithful Admonition to the Professor's of God's Truth in England," preached in 1554 during the early days of the Marian Persecution ("Bloody Mary," Queen Mary I) serves as the foundation for this admonition to the believers in Christ Jesus at Redeemer Church.
Knox's exposition of Matthew's account of Jesus sending the disciples onto the stormy sea was meant to encourage the believers to remain faithful to the true gospel, even as their pastors and ministers were being publicly burned for holding to the truth.
While we are not experiencing persecution to the same degree as our brothers and sisters five centuries ago, if we hold fast to the gospel in these increasingly spiritually dark days, we can fully expect persecution to come.
How will we respond when it does?
