The Testimony of John

As John begins to build his case for his argument that "Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God" (John 20:30-31) he calls his first witness: John the Baptist.

The scene in John 1:19-28 is that of prosecutors ("priests and Levites sent from the Jews") to interrogate John the Baptist about whether he himself is "the Christ."
